As Senior Litigator with Mager Paruas, J.B. Harris has been a proud member of the Florida Bar for forty years. He holds a Juris Doctor from the Emory University School of Law and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. J.B. currently specializes in trying complex commercial disputes, as well as personal injury cases resulting in lifelong bodily injuries and wrongful death.
Known statewide as a fierce litigator and a tenacious advocate for individual rights, prior to joining Mager Paruas, J.B. dedicated sixteen years of his career to suing the world’s largest cigarette manufacturers, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and Philip Morris USA, Inc., for illness and death caused by the addiction to nicotine contained in cigarettes. During this time, he and his trial team won multi-million-dollar verdicts against the tobacco companies for wrongful death and personal injuries caused by his clients’ addiction to cigarettes.
J.B. is also an accomplished writer, having published four peer-reviewed articles in the Florida Bar Journal during his career, as well as dozens of Op.Ed. pieces in newspapers and magazines across the country concerning law and policy.
In 2010, the Florida Bar Journal Board of Editors recognized J.B. with its Excellence in Writing Award for the best article published that year, based on the article’s quality, difficulty, and style.
When he can, J.B. spends his time away from the office trekking across wild and remote places. For example, he spent a month in Nepal where he hiked the Annapurna Circuit and made it to Everest base camp. J.B also has trekked hundreds of miles across the steppes of western Mongolia to base camp at its highest peak on the border with China and Russia, as well as the Peruvian Andes and Yellowstone National Park.
